The ORIGINAL community of Crofton was built on the Duvall family farm located within a triangle formed by three major roads: Crain Highway to the northwest, Davidsonville Road to the northeast, and Defense Highway to the south. Within the triangle, Crofton Parkway, a loop road 3.5 miles long, encircles the center of the community. It was rebuilt and branded by the Crofton Corporation as a gated and private community, the remnants of which can still be seen at the gates leading into the community from Crain Highway.

Years later, the Crofton Civic Association was created to promote civic awareness and to protect what had drawn them to Crofton in the first place.
